Sports massage is a bit of a misnomer. Most people can benefit from this type of massage, where more intensive work is needed to relieve muscular pain and spasms, improve postural problems and increase mobility, enabling you to do the things you do more effectively.

Sports Massage is a specific type of massage which helps to prepare the athlete for desired performance, by relaxing the nerves and preventing injuries. Sports Massage works deep to eliminate toxins embedded in muscle fibres, remove adhesions, and minimize scar tissue build-up.

Muscle lengthening in sports massage helps restore a range of motion and overall flexibility. Sports massage also leads to improved circulation which aids better cell nutrition, greater elasticity of muscle fibres and reduced recovery time.

What sets sports massage apart from therapeutic massage are the additional techniques that may be used. Work also tends to be more localised, working with an area where there maybe pain, restricted movement or lack of flexibility is being experienced. Techniques include neuromuscular techniques; to desensitise tender points which prevents us massaging effectively. Muscle energy techniques; to stretch and redress any muscular imbalances, Soft tissue release, connective tissue release, myofascial release is used, amongst other things, to release adhesions.
